Black, Black GrillThe all new Krank amps jr. series is a long time coming fantasy for Krank enthusiasts everywhere. The “Dimebag Darrell” inspired series amp cuts through all the B.S. and delivers exactly what every heavy riff rockin’ guitar player is  looking for. The Krankenstein Jr. series can be had in 50 watt or 20 watt models. Easily powerful enough for a live gig. The tube  driven Jr. has a 3-band eq, parametric mid-sweep, gain, ohm selector and voltage selector, active effects loop N’ footswitchin’ Dime and Kleen channels.

The new krank jr. series is a great amp. Offered in a 20w or 50 w model, I can tell you this amp kranks. I would use the 20 w version if you play out and only play small bars and clubs or you just want an awesome practice amp. The amp sounds great right out of the box and despite what others may say, the clean or “kleen” channel is great as well when you figure out how to adjust your guitars tone/volume right. The 50 watt model is unbelievably loud and crushes most amps its size. If you play outdoor gigs then I would get this one. They offer 120 watt models but unless you’ve got a major record label and play extremely large venues, you won’t really need all that power. My band was having a ridiculous time finding the right amp for playing small bars. We use a Gibson 410H with a matching cab for big gigs and tested a Black Heart, a Tiny-Terror, a Mesa, and a Vox (N-train) in the club for the last few weeks. We also went to several local stores to demo new Mesa, orange and vox amps. Each of these amps had some good sounds, but not our particular sound we were looking for. We offer mostly heavy rock with a few lighter tunes , but I always seem to need more gain than the average joe. Lately, I’ve been running this head through a regular Marshall  ”2×12″ cab with vintage 30 speakers. continue reading…
